Series That I Love & The Times I Love Them

We all love a good series binge. Weekends spent in bed watch Rachel burst into Central Perk in her wedding dress, or procrastinating your looming assignments while Rory Gilmore gets her straight A's while dating the original misunderstood teenage bad boy, Jess. So here's my list of my favourite series, and when they are exactly what you need.
SUITS
The perfect balance between over dramatised legal cases, sarcastic dream boats in $3000 suits, and office flirtations. As the series progresses, the legal jargon gets a bit much for me, but that's why I think it's the best "have it on in the background" show. Something that just fills the silence while you're writing study notes or making dinner. And something that makes you pause while chopping the carrots because every time Mike and Rachel are in the same room you can't help but hold your breath. It's also a great thing to watch during exams because if Mike reciting laws and case files off the top of his head isn't motivation, I don't know what is.
THE MENTALIST // THE BLACKLIST (& SHERLOCK)
This is great mind boggling stuff. I love crime dramas when the main guy is actually not entirely the good guy, and he's a super genius. These shows also get quite complicated, but they have the dark witty humour and convince you that you're a mentalist too, which is great. So these are definitely great rainy weekend shows. Make a fire, grab a hot water bottle, keep the kettle boiling, and solve crimes like a mastermind. It's really that simple. (It's not, don't try solve murder mysteries, especially with a hot water bottle clutched to your chest)
GILMORE GIRLS
So I love this show to extraordinary amounts. Binge watching this show is what got me through a break up and many consequential hang overs. Watching Rory fly through school and have gorgeous boys fight over her made me feel brilliant about the shots I had taken the night before and the lectures I was bunking. Jokes aside, this is a really wholesome show. Especially if you're close with your mom, because it just makes you love a mom relationship even more. It's bizarre in its small town quaintness and addictive in its teenage high school romances and dramatics.
FRIENDS
If this isn't on someones list, they're missing a chunk of television history. FRIENDS is pretty much good for any situation let's be truly honest. The corny lines and canned laughter makes it perfect as a sick/ hungover day in bed. Or background noise for your day to day to-do's. It also makes for a fun drinking game; every time someone makes an inappropriate fat joke- drink, every time Joey says "how you doin'"- drink, every time Phoebe says something that makes you think she's on hard drugs- drink, every time Monica gets a little shrieky... you get the point.
THE OFFICE/PARKS AND REC
The perfect show if you hate your job and think you're stuck, because it reminds you that even if you're just working at a paper company in some obscure small town- you can have fun and make friends (and prank the office weird guy by putting his stapler in jelly). It proves that your situation is what you make of it, and you can make any boring day at work fun. Also great for rainy weekend days when you're just in your pjs all day and need a really good belly laugh.
GOSSIP GIRL
Perfect for when you think your friend and love life might just be falling apart, because when compared to the Upper East Side- trust me it's not. Also a brilliant series to rewatch again and again, especially if you have a thing for clothes like me. Because damn, those clothes. Also great for when you aren't all that sure what you're doing with your life, fantasising about being a trust fund baby living in New York and prancing around designer stores between Chemistry and History- really makes your brain go wild at the possibilities of your future.
GREYS ANATOMY
So, I've just started. I know, I know, I'm fourteen years behind. But wow, I'm so obsessed and so hooked. I used to avoid the show like the plague because who really likes watching bodies being cut open and actually seeing eye surgeries? But, when you look past the surgery and at McDreamy... you can deal with the scalpels and goofy surgery goggles. I also usually get over shows after the first season, especially with 45 minute episodes... but I started on Thursday afternoon and I haven't switched it off since. Definitely a lie in bed all weekend and binge watch kind of show.
And a fun bonus one;
Look up Would I Lie To You on Youtube and watch every episode that pops up on Autoplay, and laugh until you cry. Trust me, it solves many bad days in my case.
Leave series recommendations for me down in the comments! I'm constantly rewatching the classics, so I could use some newbies for sure.
